share&tell Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
share&tell ("the app") lets people join live rooms to watch and talk about videos together. This page explains what information the app collects and how it's used.
Who we are
share&tell is owned and operated by Catherine Muriithi, an individual (not a company). In this document, "we", "us" and "our" mean Catherine Muriithi as the operator of share&tell.
Information we collect
- Account info: a username, and an internal account ID used to identify you to the server.
- Sign in with Apple, if you use it: Apple gives us an ID for you that only share&tell sees. We don't ask Apple for your name or email. We keep a token from Apple so we can cancel your Apple sign-in for share&tell when you delete your account.
- Profile photo, if you add one: shrunk to a small square, with its hidden details (such as where it was taken) removed, and shown to other people next to your username. It's stored with Cloudflare, and deleted when you remove it or delete your account.
- Email address, if you sign in with email: used only to send you sign-in codes and to find your account when you sign in. It's never shown to other people, and it's deleted with your account. Sign-in emails are sent through Resend (resend.com).
- Sign-in sessions: each phone or TV signed in to your account holds a random sign-in key; we keep only a one-way fingerprint of it, with when it was created and last used, so we can tell it's you. Signing out or deleting your account removes it.
- Videos you post: video files, titles, and categories you choose, stored and streamed via Mux.
- Activity: likes, watch history, and links you post from YouTube.
- Live room activity: chat messages you send in rooms, and your participation (speaker/listener) in rooms. Live audio/video in rooms is transmitted in real time via LiveKit and is not recorded or stored by us.
Device permissions
- Camera: to record videos you post and to show your video to others in live rooms.
- Microphone: to record audio for videos you post and so others can hear you when you speak in live rooms.
- Photo library: to let you pick an existing video to post.
None of these are accessed unless you take an action that needs them (recording, posting, or joining a room as a speaker).
Where data is stored
- Account and app data (users, videos, likes, chat messages, room history) is stored in a Postgres database hosted by Neon.
- Video files are stored and streamed by Mux.
- Live audio/video during a room session is routed through LiveKit and is not stored after the room ends.
- YouTube links you post are stored as a reference (the video itself stays on YouTube and plays via YouTube's own player).
YouTube
share&tell uses YouTube API Services to find, show and play YouTube videos. By using share&tell you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy. YouTube video details we keep (such as titles) are refreshed or removed at least every 30 days. You can also revoke share&tell's access to YouTube data at any time on the Google security settings page (share&tell does not currently ask for access to your own Google or YouTube account).
Account deletion
You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account in the app. This immediately and permanently deletes your account, posted videos (including the underlying video file), likes, watch history, and chat messages from our servers. This action cannot be undone.
Children's privacy
share&tell is not intended for, and may not be used by, anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
